Comment: A sculptural, excellent and uncommon, LARGE CABINET, crystallized copper specimen from Houghton County. This dramatic, elongated, biomorphic-looking, flattened copper consists of a few, sharp, large, tetrahexahedrons, intergrown crystals and crude spinel-twins. The branching spinel-twins look like "ears". The elongated form and flattened character of this piece are not that common from Houghton County. The embedded quartz or analcime matrix on both sides is diagnostic of UP coppers. The piece has been mildly cleaned to highlight the pretty coppery patina. Ex Sal Avella Collection
