Comment: From a new find at the end of 2010, these are certainly some of the more attractive and interesting Opals we have seen from anywhere. We have previously seen precious Green Opals from Brazil that are more of a Jelly Opal in appearance, but these new stones are certainly different and intriguing. This "Square Cushion" stone has a mix of soft green, sage and forest hues, and is opaque for all intents and purposes. Perhaps the most interesting aspect of the stone is the fact that it has a slight chatoyant appearance, producing somewhat of a "cat's eye" effect when rotated in the light. A really cool Opal for a collector. Please note, this material was sold to us a being "Opal", but certainly could be another form of anhedral or cryptocrystalline Quartz, as there are well over 100 terms to describe this kind of material or something similar.

Minerals: Opal (SiO2 n(H2O))
